Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.

As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.

Let’s take a look at Ryan Kelly, a forward who played for the Lakers during the 2010s.

Kelly was a stretch 4 and a potent 3-point shooter at Duke University. While there, he won a men’s NCAA championship in 2010 and made 37.9% of his 3-point attempts.

The Lakers made him the No. 48 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He spent three seasons with them and averaged 6.5 points on 38.1% overall shooting and 31.3% from downtown, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 20.5 minutes a game during that time.

After playing for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2016-17 season, Kelly went on to play pro basketball in Spain and Japan. He’s currently a member of the Fukui Blowinds, a team that plays in the Japanese B.League.
