Houston Rockets stars Amen Thompson and Alperen Sengun are both top-40 players, and even at 37 years old, Kevin Durant could still be a top-10 player.

That’s the view of developers with the popular NBA 2K video game franchise, who announced Thursday that Durant (rated 93 on a scale going up to 100) came in with the league’s No. 10 overall rating.

For the new NBA 2K26 edition, the only players with a higher rating than Durant are:

No. 8: Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics (94)

No. 6: Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors (94)

No. 4: Luka Doncic, Los Angeles Lakers (95)

Based in large part on that trio of high-end talent, the Rockets are widely considered among the true championship contenders entering the 2025-26 season.

With the Phoenix Suns last season, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game while shooting an extremely efficient 52.7% overall and 43.0% on 3-pointers. The future Hall of Famer earned All-Star honors for the 15th time in his distinguished career.
