Last season was a nightmare for the Mavericks fans. Dealing with injuries and sending Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, almost nothing seemed to go right in Dallas.

However, the Mavericks were able to turn their luck a bit to begin the offseason, winning the draft lottery and securing Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick. While the Mavericks still have some high hopes heading into next season, another big shakeup might be needed.

Andrew Wiggins to Dallas?

In a recent article from Sports Illustrated’s Mark Morales-Smith, he suggested that the Mavericks should make a deal with the Miami Heat to secure the services of the 2022 champion. Considering he fits the bill of what Nico Harrison typically looks for in a player, Wiggins could be a seamless fit for Jason Kidd and company.

Mavericks receive: Andrew Wiggins

Heat receive: Daniel Gafford, PJ Washington, first-round pick

This deal seems to make sense for both sides. While the Heat get some added depth in the frontcourt, the Mavericks get to consolidate some of their talent inside for a versatile forward.

With Wiggins potentially joining Flagg and Anthony Davis in the starting five, the Mavericks would have an incredibly athletic frontline. Also considering Wiggins’ scoring ability and championship experience, he would be a perfect mentor for Flagg.

Although there’s no guarantee that Wiggins would work out in Dallas, it might be worth the risk to get another talented player in the tight Western Conference.
