Flagg, the 2025 AP Men’s College Basketball Player of the Year, is expected to have an immediate impact at the next level following his outstanding freshman season with the Duke Blue Devils.

Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per game in his one-year collegiate career. The former No. 1 overall recruit was listed as a guard/forward on Duke’s official roster.

The Mavericks are taking a similar approach before Flagg’s rookie season, listing him as a guard/forward on the team’s official roster.

“Did a routine check-in on the #Mavs’ media website and noticed Cooper Flagg was recently added to the team’s roster. Most notably, he’s listed as a guard/forward,” Mavericks insider Mike Curtis wrote on X.

This news sparked a variety of reactions from NBA fans.

“He will grow into a power forward,” one wrote.

“Flagg can play PG through PF,” another said.

“Listing Coop as a Guard makes no sense. SF, PF makes sense,” another added.
