Thursday was a great weather day for some basketball at the New York State Fair.
The 18 and under tournament took place at the fairgrounds, with teams competing from Central New York and beyond.
CNY Central featured two star athletes from the region who competed in the tournament on the Syracuse Nets: Westhill Senior Eli Prince, and Bishop Ludden Senior Jahzar Greene.
Part of what makes the tournament so special is the opportunity athletes get to compete alongside players who aren’t on their high school teams.
“I think just getting to come out here and compete with the best players in the area and all around the state is fun to experience,” Prince said.
Greene discussed some of his favorite parts of the event.
“The way everybody acts off the court, different peoples’ character, getting to know everybody well and playing with them on the court…building a bond with people from throughout the whole city,” Greene said. “It’s very nice.”
Both players are 1,000 point scorers at their respective high schools, and have aspirations to play college basketball.
