Chris Paul will move back to Los Angeles to join the Clippers in his reportedly final season. He first played for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017.

He played as a point guard for the San Antonio Spurs last season before his contract expired. Paul, nicknamed “CP3,” also previously played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Phoenix Suns. He chose to return to the Clippers in free agency.

In his 21st season, he signed a $3.6 million contract for one year, according to the NBA. Paul had many offers, but chose the Clippers for his final season, according to ESPN NBA Insider Shams Charania.

Clippers’ President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank said Paul will join the team as a reserve point guard.

“Chris is one of the most impactful players ever to wear a Clippers uniform and it’s appropriate that he returns to the team for this chapter of his career,” Frank said.

Paul is also known for mentoring younger players, including NBA Champion and MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Paul played with Gilgeous-Alexander on the Thunder during the 2019-2020 season.

His family has remained in Los Angeles during his time playing for other teams.
