Louisville men’s basketball coach Pat Kelsey talks about his recruiting process and the team’s chemistry ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
Louisville men’s basketball promoted Brian Kloman to general manager and Peyton Siva to assistant coach.Kloman’s salary increased to $425,000 with potential bonuses up to $350,000 based on postseason success.Siva’s salary increased to $95,000, and he will maintain his alumni relations and community engagement responsibilities.
Louisville men’s basketball announced two promotions this week: one of Pat Kelsey‘s longest-tenured staffer and one of a Cardinals great.
Assistant coach Brian Kloman was elevated to the program’s first general manager position. And Peyton Siva, who joined Kelsey’s inaugural U of L staff as director of player development and alumni relations, filled Kloman’s assistant coaching spot.
The Courier Journal obtained copies of their contract amendments reflecting both advancements. Both were signed in June and established five-figure raises for each coach. Here are the details:
Kloman’s promotion was announced Monday. The amendment to Kloman’s contract reflecting his promotion refers to his new title as “general manager.” However, Louisville’s news release referred to his new title as “executive director of player personnel and strategic initiatives,” with a quote from Kelsey saying, “While many programs are hiring general managers to handle the professional aspects of college basketball, that title would undersell the immense value Brian brings to Louisville.”
After earning a base salary of $400,000 in 2024-25, Kloman’s base salary now will increase to $425,000 annually. He also is eligible for three cumulative bonuses based on the team’s postseason success:
A $50,000 award if Louisville makes it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament;A $100,000 award if Louisville reaches the Elite Eight; And a $200,000 award if Louisville wins the NCAA championship.
That makes for a maximum earning potential of $775,000.
Kloman’s promotion was effective July 1 and is set to expire June 30, 2028. He and athletics director Josh Heird signed the amendment June 20.
Siva, the starting point guard for Louisville’s 2013 national championship team, joined Kelsey’s staff last April as director of player development and alumni relations. It was an off-the-court position in which he served as a mentor for current players (especially point guard Chucky Hepburn) and a bridge between the program’s past and present.
When Louisville announced Siva’s promotion Tuesday, it said via a news release that he’ll “take on an expanded role with recruiting and player development as an on-court assistant coach for the Cardinals, while maintaining his responsibilities with basketball alumni relations and community engagement as a crucial figure of the program and in the community.”
Siva earned a base salary of $85,000 as director of player development and alumni relations. Per his contract amendment, Siva’s salary now will increase to $95,000. The base salaries of Kelsey’s assistant coaches during the 2024-25 season ranged from $100,000 to $400,000:
Siva’s promotion was effective July 1. He signed the amendment June 18, and Heird signed it June 20.
