Chicago sports icon Derrick Rose will have his No. 1 jersey number retired by the Chicago Bulls during a ceremony on Jan. 24, 2026, at United Center, the team announced Thursday.
Rose is a former NBA MVP and a Illinois Mr. Basketball winner during his time as a two-time high school state champion at Chicago Simeon. The Chicago native became the youngest NBA MVP in history when he won the award in 2011 at age 22, leading the Bulls to the best record in the NBA that season.
After high school and one NCAA Final Four season at Memphis, Rose was drafted No. 1 overall by the Bulls in 2008. He spent the first eight years of his NBA career with the Bulls, earning rookie of the year and being named an all-star three times.
As part of the celebration, the Bulls will offer fans figurines of Rose, available at four games throughout the 2025-26 season against teams for which Rose has also played:
“Rookie of the Year”: This figurine will be available Nov. 4, 2025, versus the Philadelphia 76ers.“Face Mask”: This figurine will be available Dec.17, 2025, versus the Cleveland Cavaliers.“MVP”: This figurine will be available February 22, 2026, versus the New York Knicks.“Green Jersey”: This figurine will be available March 19, 2026, versus the Cleveland Cavaliers.
