In another matchup versus an NBA big man, Rockets star Alperen Sengun was excellent in Turkey’s training victory over Nikola Vucevic and Montenegro.
Two days after a strong showing versus Lithuania and Jonas Valanciunas, Houston Rockets star Alperen Sengun did the same Saturday in Turkey’s 96-85 victory (box score) over Nikola Vucevic and Montenegro.
Both games were training matches as Turkey prepares for its upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2025 competition. Beyond faring well as a team with a pair of wins, Sengun also excelled in individual matchups versus NBA-caliber big men.
This time, Sengun finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds while making 10-of-16 shots (62.5%), and Turkey went +25 in his 26 minutes played. The 2025 All-Star also drew nine free-throw attempts, making six of those (66.7%).
Vucevic, a two-time NBA All-Star who now plays with the Chicago Bulls, finished with 9 points and 4 assists while making 4-of-10 shots (40.0%). Montenegro went -7 in his 21 minutes.
