To say that the growth of Boston Celtics backup big man Neemias Queta has been uneven would be fair given what we have seen from the Portuguese center since joining the team in 2023. But is also fair to say that the Lisbon native has also been buried in Boston’s big rotation for nearly all of that stretch as well, coming off the bench when Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet, or Al Horford were not available, only Xavier Tillman Sr. behind him in the frontcourt order.
But now all of those players are no longer under contract with the Celtics, replaced by the likes of Chris Boucher, Luka Garza, and Amari Williams on the team as true bigs, and only Boucher with more experience — as a career reserve. If ever there is a chance for Queta to spread his wings, it will be this season with Boston.
