LEXINGTON, Va. (WSET) — Round two of the NCAA Division 3 lacrosse tournament yielded no surprises to either the Lynchburg Hornets or Washington and Lee Generals.

Except for, maybe, how easy the wins came.

The #7 ranked Generals routed Scranton, 20-9, while #15 Lynchburg exploded against Stevenson, 15-6. Both teams advance to the third round on Sunday afternoon.

W&L (17-3) used a 13-2 run over quarters 2 and 3 to overwhelm the visiting Royals (12-9). The Generals’ James Haley finished with 4 goals, while Joey Allen recorded a hat trick. 12 different Generals tallied at least one goal.

Meanwhile in Newport News, Lynchburg (14-6) got revenge against #15 Stevenson (14-6), after the Mustangs ended the Hornets season in the NCAA Tournament one year ago. After Stevenson scored the opening goal barely 2 minutes into the game, Lynchburg exploded for a 10-0 run, essentially putting the game out of reach. Liam Holman and Riley Hastings both recorded a hat trick, with Hastings leading all scorers on the day with 8 points (3g, 5a).

Lynchburg now plays #4 Christopher Newport on their home field Sunday at 3pm, while Washington and Lee hosts #10 Gettysburg, also a 3pm start in Lexington.
