2026 NBA free agent rankings: The best players available next summer

In comparison to how fun it used to be, NBA free agency has been a letdown of late, with more free agents choosing to sign extensions rather than truly test the waters.

Even so, 2026 presents a pretty fun list of potential free agents, including various future Hall-of-Famers, some former All-Stars and high-level starters.

Below, check out the Top 65 impending free agents for the summer of 2026.

1. Trae Young / PG / Atlanta / Player Option

One of the best playmakers in the NBA who can hit shots from all over the floor. He can be a bit inefficient, though, and won’t provide much on defense. Can your team be a contender if he’s your best player? That seems doubtful at this point.

2024/25 stats: 24.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 11.6 apg, 41.1 FG%, 34.0 3P%

2025/26 earnings: $45,999,660

Career earnings: $146,727,211

Agent: Bill Duffy & Nima Namakian

2. Kevin Durant / SF / Houston

Game hasn’t started to slow down to age yet, the one concern is with nagging injuries, as he has started to miss more time here and there. Even so, when healthy, remains an elite scorer, solid rebounder and playmaker, and an impactful defender when he locks in late in games.

2024/25 stats: 26.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.2 apg, 52.7 FG%, 43.0 3P%

3. LeBron James / SF / LA Lakers

We’ll have to continue to monitor how the Luka Doncic addition, and extension, will affect his game as he ages. Still an All-NBA-level performer, but might finally be showing that slightest signs of slowing down, at least according to the analytics.

2024/25 stats: 24.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 8.2 apg, 51.3 FG%, 37.6 3P%

5. Norman Powell / SG / Miami

Has taken a huge leap over recent seasons, which is interesting considering he’s been in the NBA for some time now. Very good shooter from the outside who also has the quickness to get to the rim and finish around the basket. First year in Miami could be interesting as he may get even more scoring looks on offense.

Still has pretty good athleticism, which helps him be an effective slasher and rebounder. Can hit a tough shot in a one-on-one situation from time to time. Effort levels continue to be an issue, as is the desire to be the best player on the court, which, at one time, he possessed the ability to be.

2024-25 was the most he’s looked like his former promising self. Can hit threes out of the frontcourt, finish with athleticism around the rim and get some buckets off of put-backs. A double-double machine with good athleticism for finishing around the rim. At his best as a rebounder and when he’s motivated, very tough to keep off of the offensive glass. 2025/26 earnings: $7,518,518

Career earnings: $15,970,258

Agent: Mike Lindeman

49. Nikola Jovic / PF / Miami / Restricted

So much upside but he hasn’t really been able to put things together for very long stretches. Has guard-like qualities in a 6-foot-10 package but inconsistent shooter and has a propensity for turning it over. Luckily for him, he got to the NBA quite young and still has time to reach his ceiling. Miami reportedly high on his upside.

2024/25 stats: 10.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.8 apg, 45.6 FG%, 37.1 3P%

2025/26 earnings: $4,356,476

Career earnings: $6,911,040

Agent: Sam Goldfeder, James Dunleavy

52. Tyus Jones / PG / Orlando

A safe, heady floor general who can shoot from three, and hit midrange jumpers off the dribble. Plays it almost too safe as a playmaker, though, which gives him a good assist-to-turnover ratio, but prevents him from being more than a role player.
