An NBA trade idea sending Andrew Wiggins and Terry Rozier from the Miami Heat and Harrison Barnes from the San Antonio Spurs to the Milwaukee Bucks has been created.
NBA writer Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea:
New York Knicks get: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Milwaukee Bucks get: Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, Harrison Barnes, a 2026 first-round pick from New York (via Washington), a 2030 first-round pick from Miami, a 2030 first-round pick swap from New York, a 2032 first-round pick swap from New York, a 2032 first-round pick from Miami, a top-50 protected 2031 second-round pick from Utah and three second-round picks from New York
Miami Heat get: Karl-Anthony Towns
San Antonio Spurs get: Lauri Markkanen
Utah Jazz get: Keldon Johnson, Bobby Portis, Jeremy Sochan, Tyler Kolek, a 2029 first-round pick from San Antonio and a 2031 first-round pick from San Antonio
This NBA trade idea has the Bucks starting over by trading franchise icon Antetokounmpo.
Milwaukee has won only one playoff series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns.
“Terry Rozier and Harrison Barnes are both on expiring contracts. Next season is the last on Andrew Wiggins’ deal (and that’s a player option). The latter two could be movable in other trades down the road, giving this deal the potential to get even better for the Knicks. Ultimately, though, this is about draft capital. And because Miami is able to sweeten the pot a bit, this return is at least palatable,” Bailey wrote.
“That pick in 2026 conveying may not be likely (the Washington Wizards keep it if it’s in the top eight), but there’s at least a chance. And because it’s burdened by that pick protection, New York is including both of its farthest-flung possible pick swaps. The 2030 one could be impacted by the Portland Trail Blazers’ right to swap its own pick with Milwaukee’s that year, but this at least gives New York another chance to improve its position in 2030. The picks from Miami being unprotected helps and so does a handful of second-rounders.”
The Bucks will only trade Antetokounmpo if the future Hall of Famer requests a trade.
On August 4, NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Antetokounmpo was still evaluating his future with Milwaukee.
“As we sit here on August 4, sources tell me there is nothing set in stone about whether Giannis Antetokounmpo wants to stay in Milwaukee or whether he wants to leave elsewhere,” Charania said. “He’s been evaluating his future this entire offseason. I reported way back in mid-May that he’s open-minded about whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or is it a trade elsewhere.”
