The offseason period is an excellent chance for incoming rookies to hit the court and work on various elements of their game before the start of training camp. He looks to be gearing up for the upcoming season to contribute with the Hornets.
James was selected to the ACC All-Defensive Team last season at Duke, averaging 8.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists on 41.3% shooting from 3-point range. He ranked third in the conference in assist-turnover ratio (2.4) after helping the Blue Devils to the Final Four.
The 33rd pick logged two appearances with the Hornets in the NBA Summer League, averaging 5.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and three assists. He produced eight points, three rebounds and three assists in his debut on July 11 in a win over Utah.
