The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently in the best era of their franchise.
Despite being home to an NBA legend in Kevin Garnett, the Minnesota Timberwolves heavily underperformed come playoff time.
However, in the Anthony Edwards era, the Timberwolves are proving to be a perennial deep playoff team. After all, the T-Wolves have made back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances.
A key reason behind this shift for the Timberwolves is none other than head coach Chris Finch.

Finch first made a name for himself on the NBA coaching scene during the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets.
Following a five-year stint in Houston, Finch then joined the Denver Nuggets in the same role. However, he lasted just a year before joining the New Orleans Pelicans.
In his final season with the Pelicans, Finch was promoted to associate head coach. However, he once again became an assistant coach for the Toronto Raptors during the 2020-21 season, albeit briefly.
In the middle of the season, Finch landed the Timberwolves’ head coaching job. Since then, he has turned things around in Minnesota.
In 369 games, Finch has helped the Timberwolves maintain a solid 209-160 record during the regular season.
Minnesota Timberwolves have become a consistent playoff-bound team under Chris Finch
Aside from his debut season with the Timberwolves, the organization has always advanced to the postseason under coach Finch.
Of course, Finch’s impact on the team culture cannot be understated, but it would have been of no use if the organization had failed to make deep playoff runs.
Well, so far, in four trips to the playoffs under Finch, the Timberwolves have made two WCF appearances. They seem to be on the verge of overcoming their biggest hurdle and advancing to the NBA Finals.
An underrated fact about Finch’s tenure with the team is that before his arrival, the Timberwolves had reached the postseason just once in 17 seasons! Yes, the team was in such poor hands.
