On Tuesday evening, second-year Houston Rockets guard Reed Sheppard hosted a back-to-school shopping event for a group of at-risk youth. The children are part of a basketball program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.

For the event, Sheppard invited the kids to DICK’s House of Sport in Katy (a suburb of Houston), where he helped them pick out gear and sporting goods for the new school year.

Videos and photos from the Sheppard-led event are available below.

Now 21 years old, Sheppard is having an active summer as he gears up for what is expected to be an expanded role in his second NBA season. The Kentucky product was drafted at No. 3 overall in the 2024 first round, though he played only sparingly as a rookie for a deep Houston squad that finished with the second-best record (52-30) in the Western Conference.

In a separate community event from earlier this month, the Sheppard Family Foundation gave back to his hometown of London, Kentucky, which was hit by a deadly tornado outbreak in May.

At that event, Sheppard and his family teamed-up with local organizations to provide free hot meals for the community, along with backpacks filled with food items for children.
