Nothing went rigth for the Philadelphia 76ers last season. Despite adding Paul George to the rotation, Nick Nurse’s team crashed out of playoff contention as injuries decimated the rotation, with George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey all being shut down before the end of the campaign.
Daryl Morey has spent this summer adding youth and athleticism to the rotation. The hope now is that both Embiid and George can remain healthy once they eventually return to the court, while the added youth can help the second unit and improve the depth within the rotation. Of course, the Sixers also added VJ Edgecombe via the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Sixers have certainly positioned themselves to enjoy a stronger season this time around, and it would appear that ESPN agrees. In a recent article by Michael C. Wright, which featured multiple ESPN insiders, the Sixers ranked among the league leaders for teams that could experience a major turnaround from what was seen last season.
“Philadelphia’s prospects hinge largely on the health of veteran stars Embiid and Paul George, as well as continued growth from Tyrese Maxey,” Wright wrote.
Morey will undoubtedly expect the Sixers to be a much better team in the upcoming season. They have all the necessary talent and a head coach who knows how to win at the highest level. Of course, injuries aren’t something that can be controlled, and as such, will remain the variable that continues to concern the fanbase.
