The Philadelphia 76ers rookie has showcased some of his exciting skill set while getting to test himself against NBA-level talents. Edgecombe has had moments showcasing his playmaking and play finishing when working with the ball in his hands.
In the below clip, posted via Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Edgecombe an be seen using his speed to attack the rim off the catch (which is also known as a stampede cut). He easily deals with the dig from the gap defender and gets the under control finish at the rim.
Sixers fans will undoubtedly be pleased with the poise Edgecombe showed on the finish. They may also like his ability to make reads in transition and his overall feel for making the right read in traffic. Both his interior finishing and his playmaking will likely be integral parts of the role he’s expected to play for Nick Nurse’s rotation next season.
Edgecombe will enter his rookie season with renewed optimism from the fanbase. He’s already earning praise from veterans in the league, and these latest clips from his time at the Rico Hines Runs will do him no harm. The hope is that we get to see even more during the team’s preseason preparations and that he hits the ground running when the new season starts.
