Daniel Dixon has been named the head coach of the OKC Blue, the OKC Thunder’s G League affiliate.

Dixon joined the organization in 2022 as an assistant coach for the Blue, and he spent last season as an assistant coach for the Thunder. He also served as OKC’s head coach during its Salt Lake City Summer League run this offseason.

Dixon is a former player who went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft. The William & Mary alum played for multiple G League teams before he joined Charlotte in 2020 as a video coordinator and basketball operations assistant.

Dixon is only 31 years old, but OKC has a history of placing trust in young coaches. Mark Daigneault was 29 when he became the head coach of the Blue in 2014.

The Blue won its first G League championship in 2023-24. It then went 18-16 last season and missed the playoffs under head coach Kameron Woods, who has been promoted to an assistant coach for the Thunder.
