The Brooklyn Nets made NBA history when they selected five players in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft in June as the franchise continues its rebuild. Brooklyn, like most rebuilding teams that are still looking for their franchise player, are hoping that one of these players can reach their full potential, but the class has some goals of their own.

“It’s a young group. It’s on us, five rookies and the other guys in the locker room, to kind of help build the identity of what the front office wants out of the Brooklyn Nets,” forward Danny Wolf said during an episode of the Nets’ SCOUT series. This particular episode went behind-the-scenes with each rookie during their first day in Brooklyn after being selected by the team in June.

“We got to align with that and just work our butts off to really be successful,” Wolf continued. “There’s going to be nothing else but hard work and just excited to get to work with these guys and really help try lay a foundation of what Brooklyn Nets basketball is going to be.”

Wolf, 21, was the 27th overall pick in the 2025 Draft and he was the fifth of five first-round picks that the Nets made in the event, showing how committed Brooklyn is to rebuilding through the Draft. Along with Wolf, the Nets selected guard Egor Demin (eighth overall pick), guard Nolan Traore (19th), forward Drake Powell (22nd) and guard Ben Saraf (26th).

Demin spoke during the Las Vegas Summer League in July about being part of such a big class and how the rookies could help each other come along faster as each of them transition to the NBA in their own way. Based on what Wolf said shortly after being drafted by the Nets, it seems that the rookies are embracing the opportunity set before them and they are looking to do whatever they can to help the organization moving forward.
