The Milwaukee Bucks continued to fill out their roster ahead of the 2025-26 season by re-signing veteran forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the team announced Aug. 31.
Antetokounmpo is returning to the Bucks on a guaranteed, one-year, $2.9 million deal per multiple league sources.
The 33-year-old missed the 2024-25 season due to a torn Achilles tendon he suffered in a workout just after the Bucks were eliminated from the 2024 playoffs. Antetokounmpo told the Journal Sentinel he was medically cleared to return to action in December, but he has played his first games since the injury for the Greek national team over the month of August.
Antetokounmpo returns to Milwaukee after appearing in 196 games for the Bucks from 2019-24. He was also a part of the 2021 NBA championship team, and reunites with younger brother Giannis and Bobby Portis Jr. as the only players on that squad still on the current team.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo was originally the No. 51 pick of the 2014 draft by the New York Knicks.
He has career averages of 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
The Bucks will need to make a corresponding roster move to open up a guaranteed slot for Antetokounmpo, as they currently have maximum allowed 15 guaranteed contracts on the books.
