With September nearly upon us, teams and players around the NBA will convene for the start of training camp at the end of the month ahead of the 2025-26 regular season.

The bulk of the offseason transactions across the league have been completed, with free agency taking place at the beginning of July. There are still some other minor moves to make as rosters are filled out with training camp players and others destined for the G League.

The most recent draft class is also mostly signed. Of the 59 players drafted, six remain unsigned from the second round. The remaining players without a contract will either play abroad next season or sign with their respective teams in the coming days.

Rookie Wire took a look at each of those players and their contract status:

Bogoljub Marković, Milwaukee Bucks

Draft Pick: 47th

Marković averaged 13.9 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists on 38.8% shooting from 3-point range in 32 games with Mega Basket last season. He registered five 20-point games, including a season-high 27 points, five rebounds and four assists on March 9.

The 6-foot-11 forward played with the Bucks in the NBA Summer League, averaging eight points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists on 48.3% shooting from the field in five appearances. He scored in double figures twice, including a 14-point performance on July 13.

Marković will return to Mega Basket next season as a draft-and-stash prospect after signing with the team on July 29. He will have the opportunity to further develop his overall game and skill set in preparation for eventually joining the Bucks.

Draft Pick: 51st

Diawara averaged 6.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists on 43.9% shooting from the field in 49 games last season with Cholet Basket in France. He scored in double figures 13 times, including a season-high 14 points and seven rebounds on May 28.

The 6-foot-8 Frenchman debuted with the Knicks in the NBA Summer League, averaging seven points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals on 40% shooting from the field in four appearances. He finished with nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals on July 19.

Diawara informed Cholet Basket last month that he’d be leaving to join the Knicks for the upcoming season. He is reportedly in the mix to claim one of three open two-way contracts with the team.

Alex Toohey, Golden State Warriors

Draft Pick: 52nd

Toohey averaged 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.3 assists on 30.2% shooting from 3-point range last season with the Sydney Kings. He was rewarded with the NBL Next Generation Award, given to the top player under the age of 25.

The 6-foot-8 Australian logged six appearances with the Warriors in summer league, posting averages of 6.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals. He registered his best performance on July 13, recording 15 points and five rebounds in a win over Utah.

Toohey is expected to eventually sign a two-way contract with the Warriors. The team still has a few roster decisions to make before training camp opens late next month, with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga the most pressing matter at the moment.

Will Richard, Golden State Warriors

Draft Pick: 56th

Richard helped Florida to its third national championship last season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 steals on 35.9% shooting from 3-point range. He recorded 66 steals, the fourth-highest single-season total in program history.

The 22-year-old averaged 11.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.5 assists on 43.1% shooting from the field in six summer league games. He finished in double figures five times, including a 16-point effort on July 6 in a loss to San Antonio.

Like Toohey, Richard appears poised to sign a two-way contract with the Warriors. The team is likely working on figuring out the contract situation with Kuminga and then filling out the roster.

Saliou Niang, Cleveland Cavaliers

Draft Pick: 58th

Niang was the 58th pick by the Cavaliers after averaging 7.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists on 51.3% shooting from the field last season with Dolomiti Energia Trento. He helped the team to the Italian Cup and was the Italian Lega A Most Improved Player.

The Senegalese-Italian forward logged three appearances with the Cavaliers in summer league, averaging 7.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He is currently playing with Italy in EuroBasket 2025 and led the group to its first victory on Saturday with 15 points.

Niang will play next season with Virtus Bologna after signing with the team on July 16. He has had a strong showing with the Italians and will have the opportunity to continue improving next season in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A and the EuroLeague.

Jahmai Mashack, Memphis Grizzlies

Draft Pick: 59th

Mashack was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team last season at Tennessee, averaging six points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.5 assists. He scored in double figures six times, including a season-high 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists on March 14.

The last pick in the draft appeared in five games with the Grizzlies in the NBA Summer League and Salt Lake City Summer League, averaging nine points, 4.4 assists, four rebounds, two steals and 1.2 blocks. He scored 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals on July 15.

Mashack had a great first run with the team last month and likely did enough to secure the Grizzlies’ last two-way contract, along with PJ Hall and Javon Small.
