Cleveland Cavaliers forward Larry Nance Jr. is in attendance at the University of Akron to watch his alma mater, Wyoming, open the 2025 college football season against the Zips on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Nance is entering his 11th season in the NBA and second stint with the Cavaliers. He played for the Cavs in the 2018 NBA Finals.

Nance was a standout player at Wyoming before the Los Angeles Lakers selected him with the 27th pick in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. He has been traded four times — to Cleveland in 2018, to the Portland Trail Blazers in 2021, to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2022 and to the Atlanta Hawks in 2024.

Nance, a graduate of Revere High School, has NBA career regular season averages of 7.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 23.1 minutes per game. He has scored 4,204 points in the regular season.

Nance helped lead Wyoming to a Mountain West tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015. Nance finished his college career 16th in Wyoming history in points (1,386), ninth in rebounds (807), fifth in blocks (135), fifth in steals (141), eighth in games played (123) and 13th in games started (90).

Nance was the 33rd Cowboys player to reach 1,000 career points. He finished with 63 games in double-figure points, including 17 games with more than 20 points, and 18 double-doubles in his career.
