Nikola Jovic had to exit Serbia’s EuroBasket game early due to an injury, but has now provided an update on the situation.
Nikola Jovic has shown signs of promise with the Miami Heat during his time in the NBA, but this EuroBasket tournament provides him with his biggest breakout opportunity yet.
Ahead of the tournament, Jovic outshone Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic during a warm-up game days before EuroBasket tipped off.
The way he performed so seamlessly on the team is a big reason why the Miami Heat love seeing Jovic represent Serbia, as he continues to get better with the national team.
Unfortunately, Jovic suffered an injury during Serbia’s game against the Czech Republic. And now, the forward has given an update on the knock.

Nikola Jovic spoke after Serbia’s group stage win over the Czech Republic to quell some fears about the nature of his hand injury.
He admitted that it was just a small cut, and he’s ready to continue playing. Jovic added that he and Serbia are excited to play against Turkiye, whom they see as their biggest challenge in the group stages.
“Nothing special, a small cut. I hope to be all right. Let’s just stay as healthy as possible, let’s be as many of us as possible, and everything will be fine for sure.
“Yes, the most important game in the group for that first place. They play great basketball; everyone sees it, we brag about each other. It won’t be easy; they are a good team, but so are we.”
Nikola Jovic has been phenomenal with Serbia so far
While the injury derailed his performance against the Czech Republic, Nikola Jovic got off to a great start at EuroBasket with a brilliant performance in the opening fixture.
Jovic was considered the best performer for Serbia in their first game of the tournament against Estonia, where he scored 18 points and six assists.
If the hand injury doesn’t play a further part in Jovic’s campaign, he could really announce his arrival as a star-level player with a strong performance against Turkiye.
While Alperen Sengun has earned comparisons to Nikola Jokic, it could be Jovic who emerges as the most talked-about star after the game.
