AUSTIN, Texas — A documentary about The Big Fundamental will soon debut at this year’s Austin Film Festival.
“The Boy From St. Croix” offers an in-depth look at San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan and his upbringing in the U.S. Virgin Islands, on the island of St. Croix. The film is a family affair, with Duncan’s brother Scott Duncan directing.
Duncan dominated as the Spurs’ power forward, leading the franchise to five NBA championships during his 19-year career, all spent with the Spurs.
Since his retirement in 2016, the two-time NBA MVP and Basketball Hall of Famer has mainly maintained a private life.
“After keeping the world at arm’s length for decades, basketball legend Tim Duncan reveals himself in an intimate portrait directed by his brother Scott, reflecting on the game, his career, and his enduring connection to his native island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands,” the film’s synopsis reads.
“The Boy From St. Croix” premieres at the 32nd annual Austin Film Festival, which takes place Oct. 23-30 and features over 180 films.
