Julius Randle etched his name in Minnesota Timberwolves history during their Game 3 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
The versatile forward became the first Wolves player to record a postseason triple-double since Kevin Garnett in 2004, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists in their 102-97 win.
This historic performance helped Minnesota secure a crucial 2-1 series lead against the shorthanded Warriors.
Julius Randle’s historic performance fuels crucial game 3 comeback
This isn’t Randle’s first time breaking Garnett’s records this postseason. In Game 2, he became the first Timberwolves player since KG to record a 20/5/10 playoff game, establishing himself as a worthy successor to the franchise legend.
After the game, Julius Randle revealed his fourth-quarter mindset: “I looked at the scoreboard going into the fourth quarter and I think we were down four.
“So, in my mind, I was just telling myself to take it a possession at a time, be solid, get some stops, and then on the offensive line, just execute.”
The former Knicks star also emphasized his adaptable playing style, noting, “I feel like I got a lot of different tools.
“It’s about using my mind and taking what the defense gives me. If it’s three, take it.”

Despite his individual brilliance, Randle’s playmaking has earned special recognition from his teammates, particularly Anthony Edwards, who has flourished alongside him in the backcourt.
“He was incredible. Finding everybody on cuts, finding the open guy. Time after time just pushing the pace. And that’s what we asked for him,” Edwards praised after the victory.
“He’s been doing it at a high level. So we can’t ask for nothing better. You’ve been making the game a lot easier for me. I appreciate having him.”
Randle-Edwards duo proving too much for short-handed Warriors
The chemistry between Minnesota’s stars was on full display throughout Game 3. While Randle orchestrated the offense with his triple-double performance, Edwards took advantage of the spacing and opportunities created, exploding for 36 points, with most coming in a dominant second-half showing.
This dynamic partnership has emerged as the driving force behind Minnesota’s playoff push, giving them a significant edge against a Warriors team desperately missing Stephen Curry’s presence.
The numbers show how Randle’s triple double had a major impact on the game despite his errant shooting from three.
As the series progresses, Randle’s historic run has positioned the Timberwolves as legitimate contenders to advance deep into the Western Conference playoffs for the first time since the Garnett era.
