It’s been more than two weeks since NBA free agency started, but a few big names are yet to find their next team.

Every offseason, there are some top free agents to keep an eye on, and a former NBA MVP like Russell Westbrook certainly belongs there.

However, since opting out of his $3.5 million player option with the Denver Nuggets, Westbrook hasn’t negotiated a deal with any NBA teams.

At 36 years old, Westbrook’s best days are certainly behind him. While his production has declined, Russ still fulfilled a solid bench role for the Nuggets last season.

He averaged 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game over 75 appearances for the organization. Westbrook is yet to sign with a new team, and Patrick Beverley has described this as disrespectful to him.

If there’s one team that has shown interest in the former LA Lakers guard, it’s none other than the Sacramento Kings.

Keeping that in mind, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report predicted: “Westbrook signs a two-year minimum deal with a player option in Sacramento.”

With the Kings moving on from De’Aaron Fox last season, they are in need of a proven point guard on the team. If all goes well, the Kings may even offer Westbrook a starting role.

Another talented point guard still without a team is Ben Simmons, who spent the second half of the 2024-25 season with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Overall, he averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game last season. While his numbers aren’t that great, Pincus predicts Simmons could sign with the Kings or the New York Knicks.

“The Sacramento Kings are a viable option, but pencil in Simmons for the New York Knicks on a minimum deal,” Pincus stated.

Considering Simmons signed $1.1 million deal with the Clippers last season, it’s no surprise that the B/R analyst doesn’t see him getting more than a veteran’s minimum.
