Florida State upset Alabama and Miami won a big battle against Notre Dame on the opening weekend of the 2025 college football season.
The University of North Florida men’s and women’s basketball teams will open their 2025-26 seasons against the University of Florida.The UNF men’s team will face a tough non-conference schedule, including games against five 2025 NCAA Tournament participants.First-year head coach Bobby Kennen will lead the men’s team, while the women’s team enters its third season under coach Erika Lambert.
The University of North Florida men’s and women’s basketball teams will open their 2025-26 seasons with games at the University of Florida.Â
In the case of the UNF men, it means facing the defending national champion Gators.Â
The Ospreys, under first-year head coach Bobby Kennen, will play Todd Golden’s UF team on Nov. 6 at the Exactech Arena in Gainesville. The game time and TV information has not yet been determined.Â
The UNF women’s team, in its third season under Erika Lambert, will play the Gators in Gainesville on Nov. 3, with the game time undetermined.Â
Facing the defending national champs is the first game of a typically rugged non-conference schedule for the Ospreys’ men’s team. Kennen, who was an assistant coach at UNF for 13 years before being named to replace Matt Driskell, will also take his team on the road to play Tennessee (Nov. 12), Gonzaga (Dec. 7), Dayton (Dec. 13) and Miami (Dec. 21).Â
The Ospreys takes on Tennessee, Southern Miss and Columbia for the first time.
UNF will play four home non-conference games, on Nov. 15 against New College, Nov. 29 against Trinity Baptist, Dec. 2 against SIU-Edwardsville and Dec. 28 against Columbia.Â
Four games will be against conference champions, the Gators (SEC), Gonzaga (West Coast), SIU-Edwardsville (Ohio Valley) and Wofford (Southern).Â
“North Florida is no stranger to a challenging non-conference slate,” Kennen said in a statement. “As a program, we have consistently played one of the top schedules in the nation and this season is no exception with five 2025 NCAA Tournament participants. It will prepare our program for the rigor of the deep and highly competitive ASUN Conference.”Â
UNF will play in one tournament, the Pensacola Multi-Team Event Nov. 22-23 at the Pensacola Bay Center. The Ospreys will face Southern Miss in the first game and either Tennessee-Martin or Prairie View A&M in the second.Â
UNF women face SEC, ACC teamsÂ
After opening at Florida, the UNF women will play their home opener on Nov. 5 against Trinity Baptist at 11 a.m.Â
A three-game road trip will be capped at Georgia on Nov. 20 (6:30 p.m.) before the Ospreys return home to host the Thanksgiving Classic Nov. 28-29. UNF will play Bethune-Cookman on Nov. 28 and Campbell on Nov. 29, with both games beginning at 1:30 p.m.Â
The non-conference schedule ends on Dec. 21 at Clemson (2 p.m.).Â

North Florida will begin their conference schedule on Jan. 1, with the men playing at Austin Peay and the women hosting Lipscomb (2 p.m.).Â
