When you win an NBA championship, the playoff quest to get to that destination is almost as memorable as holding the actual Larry O’Brien trophy. A ring sealed one of the greatest seasons ever that the Oklahoma City Thunder will remember for the rest of time.
As Chet Holmgren enjoys his offseason of celebration, he reflected on the Thunder’s playoff journey. While they didn’t necessarily translate their regular-season success into the playoffs, being humane on the road was made up for by being a juggernaut at home.
As Holmgren took to social media to answer some fan questions, it’s fairly easy to guess what his favorite playoff series of the four was. Back in his home state, the 23-year-old cherished the Thunder’s 2025 Western Conference Finals win over the Minnesota Timberwolves more than most.
Holmgren said his favorite playoff game was the Thunder’s Game 4 win over the Timberwolves. That was one of their most impressive outings, considering Minnesota tried to tie the series after OKC quickly built up a 2-0 lead.
“I’m happy the city can be excited about hoops again because when I was a kid they were a–,” Holmgren wrote. “It was a good bump tho game 4 in MN was my favorite game of the playoffs.”
The back-and-forth affair was the most entertaining of the five playoff games between the Thunder and Timberwolves. The first-seed escaped with a 128-126 road thriller headlined by their star trio as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Holmgren combined to score 95 points.
After that, the Thunder held an ironclad 3-1 series lead. That was the last time the Western Conference Finals were populated with intrigue and suspense. After that, OKC took care of business at home in Game 5 with a blowout win over Minnesota to punch its ticket to the 2025 NBA Finals.
