NBA Insider Pablo Torre insinuates something fishy in New York Knicks – Jalen Brunson deal

Kawhi Leonard’s scandalous deal with the Los Angeles Clippers has opened the can of worms. Sooner than anticipated, another player-team liaison has raised eyebrows. While the NBA is geared to investigate if Kawhi Leonard agreed to a below-the-table deal to manipulate the salary cap, the insider responsible for the revelation has hinted at another possible blow-up.On his radar this time is the New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson. The NBA insider, Pablo Torre, in the latest episode of ‘The Dan Patrick Show,’ hinted that he is being encouraged to look into Jalen Brunson’s deal with the Knicks. Torre revealed on the show:“It’s funny, my tip line here has never been more used by enemies of Jalen Brunson. Like, ‘Look into that one!'”On asking to explain further, he said, “Well, look, how he arrived at the Knicks, this is where I will have to defer to the reporting I may or may not do on this. Certainly, it was interesting, right? That’s a pretty good deal for the Knicks… It’s a bit of a tease. I’m showing a little ankle with you; I always show a little bit more ankle than I should with you.”

Jalen Brunson’s deal with New York Knicks detailed

As per Spotrac’s contract records, Jalen signed a four-season, $104 million deal as a free agent. It, indeed, looked dwarfed in comparison to his stature. His new contract extension looks pretty much the same type, with $156.5 mn coming to him off a four-year deal. He could have commanded a far better price tag by moving to free agency. According to an ESPN tweet, the $156.5mn deal was $113 million less guaranteed than what he was eligible for in a year.Jalen, agreeing to team-friendly deals back-to-back with the New York Knicks, has raised questions about the factors leading to such a decision. Whether it was on purpose or a response to the goodies thrown at the Knicks star will be the topic of interest for Torre. Also, whether Brunson will be able to come out clean remains to be seen.Recently, the NBA has agreed to investigate the claims made by Torre on Kawhi Leonard’s deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, as per various media reports. Insider Shams Charania tweeted the clarification statement issued by the Clippers in which they refuted the claims of foul play and asserted that there was nothing ‘unusual or untoward’ in Leonard’s signing a deal with the team’s sponsor. Also Read: Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard’s name gets dragged in a “no-show” endorsement deal with a fraudulent company
