BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The 2025 ‘Ballin in Boutwell’ basketball tournament is adding a little extra fun to the event that is set to be played this fall.
According to event organizers Knight Eady and Hibbett, ‘Ballin in Boutwell’ is expanding to ‘Ballin in Boutwell: The After Party’ on Friday, October 17.
The event will showcase four different college basketball teams from Alabama that will play in exhibitions throughout the week of Oct. 13 – 16 before the after party concert on Friday, Oct. 17 with performances from Juvenile, the 400 Degreez Band, and more.
Hibbett President and CEO Jared Briskin says they are ready to create an unforgettable experience for the community.
“Hibbett is excited to bring Ballin in Boutwell: The After Party to this year’s Ballin in Boutwell event lineup. With Juvenile, the 400 Degreez Band and other incredible performances, we’ll create a celebration that unites the community for an unforgettable experience. Ballin in Boutwell and the Ballin in Boutwell: The After Party are about more than basketball games and a concert, they’re about honoring student-athletes, engaging fans and celebrating sneaker culture. Hosting Juvenile, the 400 Degreez Band and these other performances in such a historic Birmingham venue is especially meaningful, as Hibbett has proudly called this city home for over four decades, and celebrates our 80th anniversary.”
Organizers say the two-hour event from 7 – 9 p.m. will hold 3,100 fans. Those who attend are encouraged to wear sneaker-forward outfits to connect fashion and music with basketball, and officials say some guests will be rewarded for their fashion choices with upgrades and red-carpet moments.
Knight Eady President Michael Eady says they want the event to feel like the ultimate throwback from an era that “defined a generation.”
“We want Ballin in Boutwell: The After Party to feel like the ultimate throwback, an energy-filled dance party and night out set to the late 90s and early 2000s hip-hop hits that defined a generation. It’s a chance to show off your best sneakers and fashion staples while enjoying a night that blends nostalgia with style. We have a lot of exciting elements planned for Ballin in Boutwell: The After Party and look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks.”
