The Cleveland Cavaliers could see one of their brightest stars take yet another leap next season.

No one could have anticipated just how well the Cleveland Cavaliers did last season. Under head coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers dominated the Eastern Conference.

A disappointing playoff exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers put a damper on what had been a brilliant season for them.

But now, as the Eastern Conference has lost some key players, the Cavaliers have one of the strongest rosters of the lot.

And out of all their All-Star caliber players, one man in particular has outlined his goal ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

Last season, Evan Mobley had a brilliant season. The Cavaliers forward earned All-Star honors, with Mobley even winning the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Now, as he enters his fifth NBA season, Mobley is aiming to win the MVP award, wanting to capitalize on his success from the previous season.

Last year, Mobley was obviously a defensive stalwart, but he also had strong offensive numbers, as he averaged 18.5 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists.

The fact that he averaged nearly a double-double despite not being the first or second offensive option is very impressive. Expect Kenny Atkinson to make Mobley more of a focal point on the offensive end.

Cleveland Cavaliers have to prioritize Evan Mobley next season

Giving Mobley more of the ball on the offensive end isn’t just a reward for his great performances last season; it is almost necessary for them to capitalize on their strength.

While Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland have done a great job as the team’s offensive engine, not giving Mobley more of the ball is neglecting the advantage the versatile forward gives them.

Mobley can be a three-level scorer, dominating in the paint, in the mid-range, while also making most of his shots from beyond the arc.

On top of that, as the team’s leading rebounder, Mobley can also get the offense going after getting a stop against the opponents.

Therefore, the Cavaliers should start playing through Mobley on the offensive end, as he gives them a dynamic that few teams in the NBA are equipped to combat.
