Trey Lyles has signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Real Madrid that includes an NBA out clause, sources told RG.

Lyles, 29, spent the 2024-25 season with the Sacramento Kings, appearing in 69 games and starting five. He averaged 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 19.6 minutes, providing depth and defense for a playoff-contending roster.

The 6-foot-10 forward entered the NBA as the 12th overall pick in the 2015 draft out of Kentucky. He has played nine seasons across five franchises — Utah, Denver, San Antonio, Detroit, and Sacramento — logging more than 650 games. He holds career averages of 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists.

Real Madrid, a perennial EuroLeague and Spanish League contender, has a long history of attracting NBA-caliber talent. The club has developed players who have gone on to successful NBA careers and provided a high-level platform for veterans continuing their professional paths. Luka Doncic is one of the most notable names.

The NBA out clause in Lyles’ contract ensures he retains flexibility should an opportunity arise to return during the 2025-26 season. For Real Madrid, the addition brings a versatile frontcourt presence who can stretch the floor, rebound, and defend multiple positions.

His move overseas highlights the increasing overlap between the NBA and international basketball, where players weigh roster opportunities, roles, and financial terms in both markets.

Earlier this offseason, sources said that he drew interest from the Miami Heat and Kings. He additionally garnered interest from other EuroLeague teams, including Fenerbahce, before landing with Real Madrid for what Lyles views as an exciting basketball opportunity.

For Real Madrid, Lyles represents another addition to a roster built to contend on multiple fronts. The deal offers Lyles a new chapter abroad while keeping the NBA door open.
