An upcoming special event at Full Circle Bookstore will bring favorite local content creators from these spaces together in real life to celebrate books, readers and authors in Oklahoma City.

The free event will also include a panel discussion on how readers and authors alike can make the most out of these book-loving online subcultures.
Participants include Dana Cavazos, known as @thesmallestbookclub online; Magen Runyan, @reading.with.hotchocolate; and Amber Hillhouse, @seekingdystopia.
Cavazos stated in a news release that being part of BookTok changed her life.
“BookTok gave me a space where I felt seen, not just as a reader but as a person with thoughts and experiences worth sharing,” she said. “It opened doors I never expected.”

Turn off your lights
State organizations that work with migratory animals such as Wild Care Oklahoma and Oklahoma City Zoo are asking Oklahomans to turn off their lights this fall as part of a campaign to help the southern journeys of birds.
Hundreds of millions of birds migrate through Oklahoma along the Central Flyway, one of North America’s great “bird superhighways” en route to winter grounds in Texas, Mexico, Central America or South America.
They navigate using the moon and stars, but city lights, stadiums, office towers and homes can confuse them, a release from Wild Care stated. Through the campaign Lights Out, Oklahoma! These organizations are asking people to turn off nonessential lights from 11 p.m. to 6 p.m. at night and take other precautions. Find details at https://www.okczoo.org/lightsout.
