Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
As the Lakers approach their 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
The 2011-12 season was a transition year for the Lakers. Legendary head coach Phil Jackson had retired during the 2011 offseason, and Lamar Odom was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, depriving the Lakers of one of the key members of their back-to-back championship teams a couple of years earlier.
In an effort to beef up its frontcourt, Los Angeles signed big man Josh McRoberts, a second-round draft pick in 2007 out of Duke University, who had spent the past four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers and Indiana Pacers.
As a member of the Lakers during the 2011-12 campaign, the 6-foot-10 power forward averaged 2.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 14.4 minutes a game. In August 2012, he was part of the trade that brought L.A. Dwight Howard, and he would play six more seasons in the NBA for four different teams.
