Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey made some waves on Thursday when he announced he was rooting for his hometown Dallas Cowboys in their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Obviously, that is not always going to go over well in Philadelphia due to the heated Eagles-Cowboys rivalry, but Maxey is from Dallas so he gets a pass.
Maxey did get some upset Philadelphians in his Twitter mentions, which is natural, but he did defend himself by saying he is from Dallas. The 2024 All-Star guard grew up in Garland, TX which is a suburb of the city so he gets a pass for being a Cowboys fan.

After the Eagles dispatched Dallas with a 24-20 win behind a big effort from QB Jalen Hurts, it was Maxey who took to Twitter to check back in with Philly sports fans.
Maxey and the Sixers will look to bounce back in the 2025-26 season following a miserable 24-58 season. As long as he continues to produce in Philadelphia on the court, nobody will mind who he roots for in the NFL.
