Is Tyrese Haliburton the reason the Pacers are thriving?

After being voted the NBA’s most ‘overrated’ player, Tyrese Haliburton continues to prove the doubters wrong.

Sports Seriously

While the second round of the NBA playoffs continue to show the insanity of huge deficits turned to massive come-from-behind victories, the fortunes of an organization can change in a heartbeat on Monday night in the 2025 NBA Draft lottery.

That’s because one of, if not the most highly anticipated players available in recent memory — Duke forward Cooper Flagg — is the consensus top overall prospect and considered to be the best, pro-ready college player to head from NCAA to the NBA in quite some time.

Only one of these 14 franchises will have the opportunity to draft the 6-foot-9, 225-pound do-it-all playmaker with the top selection.

There’s a more than minimal chance that the Brooklyn Nets, who own the most salary-cap space in the NBA this offseason and have a league-most five selections in the top-40 picks, could land Flagg and use their other three first round selections or use their massive amount of draft capital to pair a star or two to build around the 18-year-old forward.

After waiting 25 years, will it finally be the Nets turn to own the No. 1 overall pick for the third time in franchise history?

Here are the odds for all 14 teams to secure the No. 1 overall pick and a top-four selection, plus how to watch the lottery and more for a must-see event on Monday night.

Where is the 2025 NBA Draft lottery?

The draft lottery will be held in Chicago, Illinois.

Who is the favorite to be selected No. 1 overall?

The undoubted choice to go with the top pick in late June is Flagg. He dominated his lone season at Duke, leading the Blue Devils to the Final Four all before coming up just short against Houston in the NCAA Tournament National Semifinal.

In his freshman year, Flagg was named the Men’s 2025 Wooden Award winner (best college basketball player in the country) and was a consensus first-team All-American as he led Duke in points (19.5), rebounds (7.5), assists (4.2), steals (1.4) and blocks (1.4).

Regardless of what team ends up at No. 1 overall on Monday night, Flagg will be the next cornerstone of that franchise and the main piece looking to lead a franchise out of the lottery and back to contention.

When was the last time the Nets’ pick No. 1 overall?

Since the organization moved from the American Basketball Association (ABA) to the NBA, the Nets have only held the No. 1 overall pick twice in franchise history. The first occasion came in 1990, when the franchise selected forward Derrick Coleman out of Syracuse. The other instance was a decade later in 2000, when the then New Jersey Nets drafted forward Kenyon Martin from Cincinnati with the top selection.

In the quarter century since drafting Martin, the closest the Nets have come was picking Georgia Tech forward Derrick Favors with the third overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
