The Oklahoma City Thunder announced on Friday that Thomas Sorber has sustained a torn ACL and will miss the entire 2025-26 regular season.
Sorber suffered the right knee injury on Thursday in an offseason workout. The 19-year-old was taken with the No. 15 pick of the 2025 NBA draft out of Georgetown. He missed the last two months of his college season and the Summer League with a foot injury.

Just awful luck for Sorber. He joins Chet Holmgren and Nikola Topic as unfortunate Thunder players who missed their entire first year with injuries.
The Thunder hope Sorber can be the long-term backup center. Isaiah Hartenstein could be a prime candidate who leaves OKC after next season, as he has a $28.5 million team option.
But for the 2025-26 season, it’s not a catastrophic loss. The rookie center was buried on the depth chart behind Chet Holmgren, Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams. He was likely going to spend time on the G League’s OKC Blue. Now, he’ll rehab his injury on an NBA champion.
