It’s summertime in the NBA, so it’s time to learn some history. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the older franchises in the NBA. Their history dates to the 1949-50 season.
With that longevity, the team has had hundreds of players come through the City of Brotherly Love. Sixers Wire looks at the No. 14 which has been worn by a whopping 36 of those players in the history of the franchise. This running series will go through all of the uniform numbers worn in franchise history.
Here is the list of the 36 players who have worn No. 14 in Sixers history:
Andrew Levane
Levane played 60 games for the Syracuse Nationals, and he averaged 5.5 points and 2.6 assists.
Fred Scolari
Scolari played 31 games for Syracuse, and he averaged 11.9 points and 4.1 assists while donning the No. 14 for the franchise.
Belus Smawley
Smawley played 16 games donning the No. 14 for the Nationals, and he averaged 7.8 points and 3.0 rebounds.
Bob Lochmueller
Lochmueller played 62 games in his NBA career, all with the Nationals, and he averaged 3.7 points and 2.6 rebounds.
Bato Govedarica
Govedarica played 23 games for the Nationals, and he averaged 3.3 points and 1.0 assists while donning No. 14 for the franchise.
Dick Farley
Farley wore two numbers in the 1954-55 season for the Nationals, 12 and 14, and he averaged 5.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in that season.
Jim Tucker
Tucker wore two numbers for the franchise, 14 and 17, and he averaged 5.3 points and 4.9 rebounds in 20 games while donning No. 14 for the Nationals.
Ben Warley
Warley played for both the Nationals and the Sixers, and he averaged 6.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 170 games donning No. 14.
Porter Meriwether
Meriwether played 31 games for the Nationals, and he averaged 3.8 points and 1.4 assists while wearing No. 14 for the team.
Matt Goukas
Guokas played 304 games for the Sixers, and he averaged 4.7 points and 2 assists. He became a coach for the franchise once his playing days were over.
Leroy Ellis
Ellis 14 for one season, and he averaged 13.7 points and 10.8 rebounds in that season.
Larry Cannon
Cannon played 19 games for the Sixers, and he averaged 6.2 points and 2.7 assists in those games while donning No. 14.
Henry Bibby
Bibby played four seasons for the Sixers, and he averaged 10.1 points and 4.6 assists in 327 games.
Franklin Edwards
Edwards, showing off his No. 14 plaque in the above photo, was a member of the 1983 champion Sixers, and he averaged 4.9 points and 1.9 assists in three seasons.
Steve Colter
Colter played 55 games for the Sixers while donning No. 14, and he averaged 6 points and 2.6 assists for them.
Dexter Shouse
Shouse played only three games for the Sixers, his entire NBA career, and he totaled two assists, a steal, and a block while donning No. 14.
Rickey Green
Green played 79 games, with 75 starts, in the 1990-91 season and he averaged 10.0 points and 5.2 assists. He then left to join the Boston Celtics.
Charles Shackleford
Shackleford wore two numbers for Philadelphia, 14 and 17, and he averaged 6.6 points and 5.8 rebounds in the season he wore No. 14 for the franchise.
Jeff Hornacek
Hornacek played 132 games for the Sixers, and he averaged 18.1 points and 6.5 assists while shooting 35.9% from deep for the team.
Jeff Grayer
Grayer played 47 games for the Sixers, including 25 starts, and he averaged 8.3 points and 3.2 rebounds for the franchise.
Jaren Jackson
Jackson played 21 games for Philadelphia, and he averaged 3.3 points and 2 rebounds in those games.
Mark Hendrickson
Hendrickson played 29 games for the Sixers, and he averaged 2.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in that one season for the franchise.
Nazr Mohammed
Mohammed averaged 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in 84 games across three seasons for the Sixers.
Efthimios Rentzias
Rentzias, playing in international competition in the above photo, averaged 1.5 points and 0.7 rebounds in 35 games for the Sixers in the 2002-03 season.
Corliss Williamson
Williamson played 48 games for the Sixers, and he averaged 10.8 points and 3.7 rebounds after he won a title in 2004 with the Detroit Pistons. He was traded to the Sacramento Kings in the Chris Webber deal.
Jason Smith
Smith played only two seasons for Philadelphia; he missed the 2008-09 season due to an injury. He averaged 4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 132 games.
Shelvin Mack
Mack, playing for the Utah Jazz in the above photo, played four games for the Sixers in 2013 on a 10-day deal, and he donned No. 14. He averaged 0.5 points and 0.3 assists.
Justin Holiday
Holiday was signed to a 10-day deal toward the end of the 2012-13 season, and he averaged 4.7 points and 1.7 assists in nine games.
KJ McDaniels
McDaniels played in 52 games with 15 starts during The Process era. He averaged 9.2 points and 3.8 rebounds before he was traded to the Houston Rockets for Isaiah Canaan.
Sergio Rodriguez
Rodriguez played 68 games with 30 starts and he averaged 7.8 points and 5.1 assists for the Sixers in his one season.
James Michael McAdoo
McAdoo played in only three games for the Sixers, and he averaged 2.7 points and 0.7 rebounds in those games.
Jonathon Simmons
Simmons played only 15 games for the Sixers after he was acquired from the Orlando Magic in the Markelle Fultz deal. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.2 assists for the franchise.
Norvel Pelle
Pelle played 24 games for the Sixers, and he averaged 2.4 points and 3.0 rebounds as well as 1.3 blocks in those games.
Danny Green
Green had two successful seasons in Philadelphia during which he averaged 7.8 points and shot 39.5% from deep as a floor spacer for the team. The Sixers then sent him to the Memphis Grizzlies in the De’Anthony Melton deal before they brought him back in the 2023-24 season when he played two games for the Sixers.
Dewayne Dedmon
Dedmon played eight games for the Sixers late in the 2022-23 season and averaged 3.5 points and 3.1 rebounds while being a big man they could rely on.
Ricky Council IV
After wearing No. 16 in his rookie season, Council switched to No. 14 and averaged 7.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in his second season. He is now with the Brooklyn Nets after the Sixers waived him.
