In 2010, LeBron James announced his departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers following a seven-year stint.
LeBron James held the infamous ‘The Decision’ to announce that he would be taking his talents to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference.
In addition to James, Chris Bosh also joined the franchise. Ultimately, James, Bosh, and Dwyane Wade formed a Big 3 in Miami.

LBJ’s move to the Heat shocked the NBA community to its core. After all, it was unreal to see a player of James’ caliber leave to join forces with two All-Stars, all in the primes of their respective careers.
Evidently, the expectations from the Heat’s Big 3 were to win multiple NBA Championships during their tenure.
“Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven… when I say that, I really believe in it,” James stated.
In hindsight, the Heat did win back-to-back NBA titles in 2012 and 2013. But it wasn’t even close to the number that James predicted when he officially joined the Heat in 2010.
Micky Arison remembers LeBron James’ promise during 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame ceremony
Despite being an active player, the Los Angeles Lakers star was recently inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the 2008 Redeem Team.
Aside from that, Heat owner Micky Arison was also given the honor for his terrific run with the Heat. During his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech, Arison aimed a subtle jab at James.
“In 2010, with Dwyane, LeBron, and Chris Bosh, we knew we could win. Not one, not two – I guess it was just two,” Arison joked.
