The Philadelphia 76ers are a team that heads to the 2025-26 NBA season with plenty of question marks. Last season, the Sixers acquired Paul George to form a “Big 3” with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. However, George and Embiid were pretty much hurt the entire year, and Philly went on to finish with a 24-58 record, their worst campaign since 2016-17 when they won only 28 games.

Looking ahead, Stacey King thinks that the 76ers should start all over again and get rid of their two stars, who have been unable to stay healthy and play together.

“Move on from Paul George…I’m keeping Tyrese Maxey. He’s a young player. But Paul George and Joel Embiid are always hurt. They’re never playing together. I don’t know how many games they play together, but it’s got to be fewer than 20 together. And they seem to be uh..Paul George is more into podcasting than actually playing,” said King on his podcast.

PG and JoJo played together only 19 times last season

George headed to Philly, coming off an All-Star season with the Clippers. However, he ended up averaging just 16.2 points per game, his lowest in 10 years. Worse than that, PG played in only 41 regular-season games before he was shut down.

At one point during the season, Paul uploaded more podcast videos on YouTube (228) than he made field goals on the basketball court (191) and was heavily criticized. He shut down his podcast in late February to focus on a playoff chase, but a couple of weeks later, the Sixers also shelved him for the remainder of the season due to injuries. Meanwhile, Embiid played in only 19 games last season, including 18 with George.

“So I would move on from those guys, try to get as many picks as I can from them, and let my fanbase know, like, ‘Hey, this is something we had to do’. This is something that’s more for the long-term sustainability for the Philadelphia 76ers. It’s time for us to rebuild. We got some young pieces right now — Edgecombe, McCain, we’re going to go from there and let’s play for the draft this year, and let’s see what we can do,” he added.

Big Perk wants to include an overhaul of the front office

Like King, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins prefers that the Sixers rebuild rather than wait for Embiid and George to deliver. However, Perk suggested a total wipeout, meaning he also wants the owners to get rid of the front office people who got them into this mess that they are in right now.

“I would hit the reset button all across the f—king board,” he said on “Perk Unplugged”. “And it’s not just with trading Joel Embiid and Paul George. But I’m also hitting the reset button on who actually paid those guys and jumped the gun, right? It’s time to clean house in the front office. Like, let’s be real here, man. Daryl Morey has not done a great job. Daryl Morey knew about these injuries and what Joel Embiid was dealing with.”

However, King and Perkins may have to wait one more year because rumors during the early preseason said that management wants to give the current core one last chance to prove their worth. Hopefully, both George and Embiid will be healthy enough to do that.Â
