Police in Jackson Township, New Jersey, believe a man shot and killed his 28-year-old girlfriend in an incident that happened outside an apartment complex on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025.
The woman has been identified as Toraya Reid, 28, who is the sister of Minnesota Timberwolves’ Naz Reid, according to a report by NBC News.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a woman unresponsive after shots were fired in the area of the Paragon Apartment Complex on Larsen Road in Jackson Township at about 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Here, officials said they found the body of Toraya Reid, of Jackson Township, after she had been shot several times near the exit of the apartment complex.
As officers responded to the incident they said the police observed a man, identified as Shaquille Green, 29, of Jackson Township, running along North New Prospect Road.
At that time, Green was taken into police custody, officials said.

Green has been charged with murder, firearm violations and other offenses, police said. He is being held in police custody in the Ocean County Jail as he awaits a preliminary hearing, officials said.
Naz Reid, who was born in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and attended high school in Union County, New Jersey, has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves since 2019.
Reid is a popular player among T-Wolves fans and he won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2024.
So far, Reid has not made a public statement on his sister’s death but shared what appeared to be childhood photos of her in his Instagram stories Sunday afternoon.
An investigation into this incident remains ongoing, police said.
