While fall is typically reserved for football, the first weekend of September 2025 was all about basketball.
Over the weekend (September 6th and 7th) some of the biggest hoop stars were celebrated at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement.
Some of the biggest names in the game were honored with an induction into the hall of fame. The 2025 class was pretty stacked, to say the least.

Carmelo Anthony’s Basketball Hall of Fame Speech
One of the big highlights of the weekend’s celebrations had to be Carmelo Anthony’s moment in the spotlight.
I’ll admit it, I might be a bit biased towards Melo. I went to college at, and at this upstate New York school, the guy is an absolute legend.
When the 41-year-old stepped up to the microphone after presentations from Allen Iverson and Dwayne Wade, he spoke openly and proudly about his career.
“I carry with me the echoes of every voice that ever told me I couldn’t. I walk with the shadows of every alley, every cracked court, every empty plate. I stand for the dreamers, the doubted, the dismissed, for every soul trapped in a place where I broke free from.”
Carmelo Anthony Thanks Denver Nuggets Fans
Anthony went on to acknowledge all of the teams he’s been a part of over the years.
From his one season at Syracuse University, to his nineteen season career in the NBA playing amongst the best of the best.
In 2003, Carmelo was drafted third overall to the Denver Nuggets, according to reports.
He spent eight seasons with the Colorado team before he went to play for the New York Knicks for the next seven years.
Melo also ended up playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and the LA Lakers, according to Basketball Reference.
You never forget where you first started, and Anthony made sure of that during his speech on enshrinement night, giving a nod to Denver for the role the city played in his career.
“I know everybody’s waiting on this next one, to the Denver Nuggets: in the city of Denver, you believed in me first. You gave me your keys as a 19-year-old kid. You let me grow, fall, fly, and become the man standing here today. Denver was where I learned the weight of the league, when I learned the value of sacrifice and the beauty of team. To every fan who filled the Pepsi Center, thank you to the Mile High City. You’ll always be a part of my foundation.”
