Weekends full of football are back. You can attend your kids’ high school game on Friday, root for your college team on Saturday and sit down all day on Sunday to watch the NFL. It’s most sports fans’ favorite time of the year as temperatures outside cool down.

It also means basketball isn’t too far behind. The NBA is only a little over a month away from the start of the 2025-26 regular season. As NBC hosted its first Sunday Night Football contest of the season with the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills, the NBA’s new broadcast partner reminded viewers of that.

The Oklahoma City Thunder starred in a new NBA on NBC commercial. The champions are tied for the most national television appearances in the 2025-26 regular season. That includes being part of Opening Night, as they host the Houston Rockets when their championship banner is dropped and rings are handed out.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren were in full uniform for the NBA on NBC commercial. They awaited the opposing team’s starting lineup introduction. Instead of Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun, though, it was former NBA players who are NBC analysts.

The starting lineup for Team NBC and Peacock were Grant Hill, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Jamal Crawford, Carmelo Anthony and Reggie Miller. Play-by-play commentator Mike Tirico was also in the commercial.

This was a funny commercial to watch. Thunder fans were surprised by it as they watched the Sunday Night Football broadcast. As the NBA begins its broadcast relationship with NBC, folks across the league hope the fresh start can bring exciting new changes.
