After making a few additions this summer, the Dallas Mavericks enter the 2025-26 season aiming to return to the playoffs in the fifth year under head coach Jason Kidd.
The addition of No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg headlined the offseason after the team won the draft lottery, despite having only a 1.8% chance of receiving it. The team also added D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum, and signed Kyrie Irving and PJ Washington to contract extensions.
Flagg is expected to play a significant role for Kidd and the Mavericks, thanks to his ability to impact games on both ends of the court. He is the early front-runner to win Rookie of the Year based on his potential on the court and projected role for the team.
The team will be without Irving to begin the season after sustaining a torn ACL in March. Although there is no timetable for his return, Irving recently stated that he is making good progress in his rehab and is able to do “a little bit more in the gym.”
With the team opening training camp on Sept. 30, Rookie Wire examined the Mavericks’ depth chart and offered an early projection of the starters and backups entering the season.
