The Eastern Conference-leading Cavaliers agreed to a deal with former NBA first-round draft pick Chuma Okeke, a league source confirmed Thursday night for the Beacon Journal. The Cavs later announced the signing of the contract Saturday.

ESPN first reported the Cavs had filled their final roster spot with the move. Terms of the contract were not immediately disclosed.

Selected 16th overall out of Auburn University by the Orlando Magic in 2019, Okeke played four seasons with the Magic and appeared in seven games this season on a pair of 10-day contracts with the Philadelphia 76ers.

With the Sixers, Okeke averaged 6.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 24.4 minutes this season. He also appeared in 45 games with the NBA G League’s Westchester Knicks, averaging 16.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 36.5 minutes during the 2024-25 season.

The 26-year-old Okeke is a forward. He’s listed as 6 feet, 7 inches and 229 pounds. His career NBA averages are 6.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.4 minutes.
