What led to the Bucks decision to waive Damian Lillard?
Bucks reporter Jim Owczarski discusses what led to the Bucks decision to waive Damian Lillard, enabling them to sign Myles Turner.
Myles Turner is taking it all in during his first few days in Milwaukee.
First, the Milwaukee Bucks‘ newest acquisition embraced the downtown sights as he tried out his first meal in the Third Ward.
Now, he’s taking in a glorious sight for his job here.
As Turner made his way around the Bucks’ team facilities for the first time since his massive free agent signing earlier this summer, Turner stopped by the team’s championship trophy case.
Turner posted on his Instagram Story on Sept. 8 a photo of the Walter A. Brown Trophy, the hardware the Bucks won in 1971 for winning the NBA title, and the Larry O’Brien Trophy from the team’s title in 2021.
Turner, who appears to be getting a crash course with his new organization and tour of the team facilities ahead of training camp, wrote over the photo “Day 1” with a checkmark.
Turner came close to holding up the trophy last season while with the Indiana Pacers.
He and the Pacers advanced to the NBA Finals, a run that included beating the Bucks in the first round of the playoffs, but fell in seven games to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Turner, selected by the Pacers in the first round of the 2015 NBA draft, has played all 10 years of his career in Indiana.
But he chose to leave Indiana and team with Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee on a four-year, $107 million contract and help bring another title to Milwaukee.
It won’t be long before Turner is on the court with his new teammates.
The Bucks open practices for the 2025 season on Sept. 29 with their first preseason game set for Oct. 6.
