On Monday, Brian Dutcher and the San Diego State Aztecs officially got their first commitment of the 2026 recruiting class.

Zach White is a 6-foot-6, three-star prospect from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California. The commitment was right after his official visit to the SDSU campus with his parents. He picked SDSU over USC, New Mexico, Cal, Washington, and among others.

Shortly after the commitment, Mark Zeigler of the San Diego Union-Tribune released an article. A quote sticks out about how much of a true Aztec Zach White is, and will be on the Mesa.

“Every team I’ve played on, I’ve always thought you can be a star at your role, whatever it is,” said the SDSU commit.

White this past year averaged 12.6 PPG, 1.8 APG, 5.1 RPG, 1.2 SPG, and .4 BPG. His best game coming Mater Dei Catholic in Chula Vista, where he dropped 27 Points, seven rebounds, and added a steal. White even had a game where he had six steals early in his junior season.

Zach White told the UT that he had to find different ways to contribute and help his team win. Another eye-popping quote from White screams Aztec For Life and fits the Aztec culture.

“The banners will last forever. You’ll see those banners still up there 30 years from now. That’s more an impact. There are no banners for scoring 30 points,” White said.

White is the first prep commit for the Aztecs and probably not last, maybe even not the last of this week. Four prospects have either taken a visit to the Mesa or will soon be arriving. Dutcher said he could possibly take as many as three in Monday’s media presser.

A name to look out for who is visiting this Thursday, per 247 Sports. Trevon Carter-Givens visits the Aztecs this Thursday, and 247 Sports has optimism that is down to the Aztecs and NC State for the lengthy 6-foot-11 big from SoCal Academy. Other intriguing names include Josh Irving from Pasadena, California, and Josiah Johnson from Lakewood, CA.

San Diego State has recently released its 2025-26 schedule, featuring 10 non-conference games. Stay tuned for an EVT Schedule Breakdown.
