As the Philadelphia 76ers continue to push forward toward the beginning of the 2025-26 season, there is still some business for them to take care of in terms of the offseason. The Sixers still have to find a way to bring back Quentin Grimes in restricted free agency, and in order to do that, some salary might have to be shed.

Therefore, reliable Kelly Oubre Jr. has had his name pop up in trade rumors. It makes sense from a business standpoint as he is set to make roughly $8.3 million in the upcoming season after exercising his player option. If the Sixers can move off his salary, it opens up more flexibility to bring back Grimes.

However, it appears that Oubre feels hurt by the fan base for their reaction to the rumors. He has been a constant for the Sixers in his first two seasons in Philadelphia averaging 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds while doing whatever it is coach Nick Nurse has asked of him.

In response to the rumors, Oubre had a strong comment on Instagram.

Oubre is right that he has battled through a lot of injuries to be there for the Sixers. His 3-point percentage was down to just 29.3% in the 2024-25 season, but he had to battle finger injuries that limited him on the offensive end of the floor. The Sixers have to do what’s best for the organization, and the NBA is a business at the end of the day, so if Oubre is traded, then it isn’t anything personal, but Oubre’s frustration is understandable.
