What’s the next move for Malik Beasley? Where do the Pistons come in?

On “The Pistons Pulse,” Bryce, along with Andrew Schlecht and Alex Spears of The Athletic’s “Slam n’ Jam” podcast, game out what options may exist for Malik Beasley.

The NBA is conducting its own gambling investigation into former Detroit Pistons guard Malik Beasley, according to a report Wednesday from ESPN.

Beasley, 28, was the target of a federal gambling probe earlier this summer regarding a game in January 2024 while he was a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. Further reports have indicated Beasley is no longer a “target” in the federal investigation.

The NBA investigation is “believed to be in its final stages,” ESPN reported.

Beasley, 28, averaged 16.3 points last season and is one of five players in league history to make 300 3-pointers in a season. He finished second in 2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting.

The Pistons were prepared to offer a three-year, $42 million contract before news of the gambling probe broke on the eve of free agency. He has since been in free agency limbo, as teams wait for his legal issues to resolve.

The Pistons pivoted and added Duncan Robinson and Caris LeVert in free agency in July.

Though the Pistons no longer have cap space, they can offer him a salary starting up to $7.2 million due to his Non-Bird rights. They have one open roster spot.
